“The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands.”
From Bush’s inaugural speech.
He’s wrong. And he’s right.
The weasel word is “increasingly.” Regrettably, it is the legacy of Left’s self-loathing and latent suicidal tendencies. Over the years, they’ve eroded the right of citizens to protect themselves and their country. Today, the borders are not properly protected and restraining criminals and jihadists among us is considered sinister.
Back to the quote. Taken on face value, it is wrong, wrong, wrong.
Liberty thrived in the 19th century and 20th century even though other countries were run by extrememly powerful and destructive despots. Yet America thrived.
The best defense of liberty is, well, a strong defense. But that’s been undermined consistently by the Left. First they emasculated the spy agencies and riduculed the military on behalf of the Soviets. Today they do it because of their pathological loathing of Western Civilization. Oh, and because they are fucktards who gave up on human life generations ago.
But back to Bush’s words. “The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands.”
Could you imagine Churchill saying “The survival of liberty in Britain increasingly depends on the success of liberty in Germany.”
Or FDR saying “The survival of liberty in America increasingly depends on the success of liberty in Japan.”
Or Reagan saying “The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in the USSR.”
The correct answer is: “Fuck no!”
History proves that the way to protect liberty is to export a rain of death and then export the liberty. Or in Reagan’s case, make the credible pledge to meet any aggression with overwhelmingly disproportionate force.
And not to make too fine a point, delivering the death and destruction alone gets the job done nicely as well. What the survivors wish to do afterwards is of little concern of the people they intended to destroy without mercy.
Besides, if anyone, anywhere in world wants liberty and democracy, they fucking know where they can find it.
Bush’s statement is similar to Woody Allen’s tiresome claim of being an anhedonist...one who can not enjoy life while someone somewhere in the world is miserable.
It’s a defeatist sentiment on the Left and not worthy of Conservatives, compassionate or otherwise.
