The CBS staffers who were thrown under the bus to save Dan Lather’s rep are not going quietly into the night.
They’ve “lawyered up”. Good for them.
Put yourself in their shoes. No matter what your title at CBS News, you are Dan Rather’s bitch. If Dan wants to run forged and false documents then by Jebus you’re going to play along. Or walk.
Dan Rather was the only thing standing between running the faked letters or not. Period.
When the axe fell, he didn’t get any meaningful punishment. So why should anyone else? The choice was either nod along with Rather’s insane scheme or find a new job.
The lawyers for these staffers have an extremely strong case.
Best of all, this story will stay alive. Chances are more of the darker details of CBS’s links to the Democrank Party and John Kerry’s campaign will come to light.
Now, how long before the Dumbocrat Underground or Mooch-on.org posits that at least one of these staffers is a member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?
