The Cost of Torture

In some countries it's under $115.

The Bahrain Blogger™, Mahmood, has the story of a a Bahraini man who was sentenced for three months after being convicted of torturing a Bangladeshi employee.

The 35-year-old victim told police that the man had come into his room in Janussan on the night of October 19, 2002. He said that the man tied him up with a rope, beat him and then gave him electric shocks.

Ah, the wheels of Mid East justice turn slow but grind exceedingly fine. Orrrr, you can speed up the ol' wheels of justice with some well-placed grease...

The sentence will be suspended if the 26-year-old fish trap maker pays a BD300 fine.

That works out to $114. (Yes, yes, a bargain in San Francisco.)
